Third Act Faith continues its exploration of Joanna Macy’s Work That Reconnects, a set of simple but profound practices to build strength and resilience for our work to heal the world. In each session, we will engage in practices of sharing, listening, and imagining related to one of the stages of the Work that Reconnects, which are designed to build community, help us hold the many emotions related to our work in the world, and give us new sources of support to do that work.

Our sessions will be led by TAF Coordinating Committee member Martin Wagner, an interfaith eco-chaplain, environmental lawyer, and student of Joanna Macy. In this session we will talk about honoring our pain for the world, which is necessary in order for us to feel joy. Other sessions will look at the successive stages of seeing with new eyes and going forth, with a return to gratitude in the final session. The stages stand alone, so you do not have to attend every session and can join at any time.

Developed by Buddhist activist Joanna Macy, Ph.D., an author and scholar of systems theory and deep ecology, these practices are a powerful resource for transforming anger, despair, and overwhelm into inspired, collaborative action.
