The May 14 membership meeting will feature Tim Franzen, the Atlanta Economic Justice Program Director with the American Friends Service Committee, where he has spent over a decade leading grassroots campaigns and community empowerment efforts. Tim has been busy lately using his skills to train volunteers in de-escalation tactics for the many protests happening around Georgia. We are lucky to have him join us and share his knowledge and answer our questions.
Whether you intend to join in a protest, vigil, town hall meeting, or anything public where your views are expressed learning ways to de-escalate volatile situations is a skill we all could use. Our world is changing so dramatically and quickly such that violence is more and more possible. It is important to remain non-violent in our actions including our speech. That is not always easy. Tim can help us learn ways to remain peaceful.
