About this event

Join us for a conversation with Princeton University cognitive scientist Molly Crockett. For nearly two decades, Molly has been studying the neuroscience and psychology underlying our views about morality, fairness, altruism, decision-making, empathy, and more. Over time, her work moved into writing and reflection on the devastating impacts of misinformation, how we talk to (and at) each other on-line, the spread of ‘moral outrage’, and the ‘what’ and ‘why’ of moral action. Outside the lab, Molly is a practitioner and teacher of Buddhist meditation in the Samatha tradition.

Molly Crockett is an Associate Professor of Psychology & Human Values at Princeton University. Her lab’s research program applies cognitive science insights to practical questions like how to design social media environments that promote cooperation over conflict, and how to balance opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence in science and society. The lab team is currently exploring how systems of power shape knowledge production and communication within and beyond science.
