Finding Your Niche in Third Act Creatives

If you’re wondering how you can contribute to Third Act Creatives, here’s an easy process:

Settle in with a piece of paper and a comfortable pen. If it helps, play music, sip tea, or sit in your special (creative) place.

Then write these questions on the page, each followed by your answers.
  1. What do I enjoy doing? How did you play as a child?
  2. What do I excel at doing? What achievements have gained praise from others?
  3.  What help is needed?
Most likely, you will find it easy to answer the first two questions. The answers might even be the same for both questions.
The third question may take some thought. Here’s some help:
  • First realize Third Act is working to protect our democracy and to protect our environment. The Creatives group was formed to support Third Act and its working groups with creative contributions.
  • Learn more about Third Act by looking through their website [ www.thirdact.org ]. You will find location-specific and interest-specific working groups. Each group has teams working on different actions. You will also find many events, some in person and some virtual. Attending in-person events with your local working group and virtual Third Act events are great ways to find possibilities and meet other Third Actors.
  • Then consider how your interests and skills can be applied to help with these actions.
Here are some possibilities:
  • If you sing, you could be part of a choral demonstration. (“Can you hear the people sing?”)
  • If you’re an artist, you could make cartoons, flyers, and posters for the website and newsletters.
  • If you write, you could create articles, blogs, letters, postcards, scripts, poetry, or stories. You could capture notes at meetings.
  • If you like to organize, you could plan and lead actions, organize and curate member artwork, or become a member of the Coordinating Committee.
  • If you build relationships, you could help with new member engagement, fundraising, social media, or marketing.
And of course, there’s much more.
Third Act Creatives needs help with everything, from innovative actions to routine, administrative tasks. So there’s something for everyone.
Still unsure? Reach out to the Third Act Creatives Coordinating Committee [ thirdactcreatives@gmail.com ]. Volunteers in that group would be happy to help find a place for you.
We’re glad you’re here!
