As part of our Hope & Joy Series, Stephanie Wagner shared 30 years of breakthroughs from the HMI team and how their work is helping people worldwide build well-being skills.

The Healthy Minds Innovations (HMI) is a nonprofit affiliated with the Center for Healthy Minds at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. HMI was started in 2014 by world-renowned neuroscientist Dr. Richard Davidson. At the request of the Dalai Lama in 1992, Davidson and a small team of western scientists began investigating the impacts of meditation on our minds and bodies. We’ll start with a conversation about a few of the breakthroughs that the HMI team discovered over the past 30 years. From there, we’ll move into how the team is bringing that learning out from the lab – helping people around the world develop well-being skills. We spend an equal amount of time talking with Stephanie about her personal experiences and perspectives as she developed her own approach to well-being.
