How to Host a Postcard Party

Gather your neighbors and friends to write personal notes to prospective voters. Make it fun!

To host a totally excellent, fun, and – to put it simply – World-Saving postcard party, follow these simple steps:

Identify a date (or dates, if you want to do more than one… or to have a back-up date).  Schedule your party anytime between now and mid-October!

Sign Up Now!

Contact us via this convenient Google form  to give our team the information we need about you and your postcard party.  We will contact you to identify the best way to get postcard materials to you, and to answer any questions you might have.

Call and/or e-mail your friends, neighbors, relatives (they do NOT need to be Third Actors or even in our age group! Everyone is welcome to help save democracy!) and extend your invitation.  Date, time, what to bring (themselves, a pen, a small donation toward postage stamps). Also give them an idea what to expect, how long will the party last (no more than 2 hours unless you’re including a pot-luck!), and whether there will be food and snacks.  Let them know materials will be provided including sample personal notes such as those they will be writing.

Hold the party.  Provide snacks and drinks. Hand out materials and explain the goal – ideas for you are included with the materials.  Be sure to take a picture of everyone – a group-selfie!  We’ll post them on the website or in our newsletter!

This activity is sponsored by the Preserving Democracy Committee of Third Act Illinois.  If you have questions please contact one of the committee co-chairs: Kathy Tholin at kathy.tholin@gmail.com or Peg Dublin at pegdublin@gmail.com.
