May 6, 1:30-3:00pm

This group is an expansion of The Concord Regional Postcarding Group which came together to write thousands of postcards for the 2024 election cycle. We reconvened for the first time on Feb. 4 at the Cafe at Gibson’s Bookstore. Members decided that as much as the Cafe had been perfect for our postcarding, we needed a larger, quieter space to support our expanded scope.

Onward to our new location at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Concord, 274 Pleasant St. We are very grateful for their welcoming us! We will meet there on the first Tuesday of the month, 1:30-3:00pm.

We are now expanding the meeting to welcome all Third Actors statewide! So whenever you can make the trek to Concord we’d love to have you all join us. The ideal would be to have multiple regional in-person meetings around the state and hopefully that will be possible in the future.

Our first meetings were March 4 and April 1 at our new location. The energy of being together in person was wonderful and inspiring. People shared the actions they have taken since the election, including moving their money to greener banks and credit cards, and one member now has her own substack. Impressive!

TA NH Power Up Communities liaison Bill Coder shared his work coaching homeowners on the many ways they can transition to green energy. Bill is a certified Rewiring America coach. Information was provided to sign up for an in-home free consultation (contact him at newhampshire@thirdact.org).

Bill will be teaching a class at OLLI in Manchester on March 14 (OLLI @ UNH Manchester). Coordinating Committee member Laura Magzis provided an excellent list of her favorite Substacks, Blogs and More.

A discussion of future opportunities for actions within the three TA NH campaigns followed. A listing of many actions and resources was shared with the encouragement to pick an intention for the next month.

The next meeting will be Tuesday, May 6 at 1:30-3:00pm.  We’re looking forward to seeing TA NH members and friends!

Where: Unitarian Universalist Church in the Parlor, 274 Pleasant St., Concord

Parking beyond the church past the clothing collection bin. Enter at side door.

Climate Finance Meeting https://thirdact.org/new-hampshire/events/climate-finance-meeting/ Mon, 28 Apr 2025 13:23:59 +0000 https://thirdact.org/new-hampshire/?post_type=events&p=931 You’re invited to help advance the work of Third Act NH’s Climate Finance team.  We welcome any effort level, whether you want to just dip your toes in, or wade in deep! Come to our next meeting May 15, 2025 at 7:00pm by Zoom.  Email us at newhampshire@thirdact.org and we’ll send you the link Here’s what we’re up to…

We are continuing our Move Your Money campaign.  Deborah Mahar and Melanie Nesheim are working on a presentation for the Keene Public Library’s Climate Cafe in the fall.  We’re looking for other groups and venues at which to educate people that where they place their money impacts the climate.  Can you set us up to speak to a group?  We could also use a volunteer who likes to make short videos for Instagram, to capture people’s stories about moving their money.  Donna Baker-Hartwell has a good story; we’ll connect you with her.

We’d like to get two other efforts off the ground: Make Polluters Pay and the LL Bean campaign.

Make Polluters Pay.  Some states such as New York and Vermont have successfully passed legislation requiring fossil fuel companies to pay to mitigate the harm of the pollution they cause.  What companies in NH need to be paying?  Someone needs to research this, and then let’s introduce a bill in NH to make them pay.

LL Bean.  The campaign is to get LL Bean to switch its credit card away from Citibank to a climate-friendly credit card.  Citibank is one of the top 4 funders worldwide of the fossil fuel industry.  Third Act Maine has been working on this, and Third Act central is now taking it up.  We’d love for folks in Third Act NH to get involved in this effort since LL Bean has a big presence here. We have resources to guide you.

See you on May 15!
