DEADLINE 2/20/25: Protect the Great Lakes from Fast-tracking Line 5 Tunnel Project

Oil and Water Don't Mix urge all opponents of the Line 5 Tunnel project to act TODAY

Oil and Water Don’t Mix urge all opponents of the Line 5 Tunnel project to act TODAY:

The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) is considering fast-tracking permits for Enbridge’s Line 5 oil tunnel beneath the Great Lakes per a recent Energy Emergency Executive Order. This would severely limit public input and sideline essential environmental reviews for a high-risk infrastructure project. USACE must decide by February 20 whether to classify this project as an “emergency” requiring expedited approval.
The Great Lakes provide drinking water for millions and support a thriving tourism and fishing economy. A rushed approval process for this controversial project would jeopardize these vital resources and set a dangerous precedent.

We need your help to urge the USACE to:

  • Maintain a full environmental review process for the Line 5 tunnel project.
  • Ensure meaningful public participation opportunities.
  • Reject any attempt to classify this project as an emergency requiring expedited review.
