Liz Hachten and Gloria Randall-Hewitt presented on Investor-Owned Utilities (IOUs) & the Wisconsin Public Service Commission (WPSC): Who Are They & Why Should I Care?. During the Q&A, those of us present expressed gratitude for what we learned about IOUs and the WPSC – and we care a lot! Among other things, we learned that IOUs and the WPSC are among the reasons why Wisconsin is behind in reducing climate warming emissions, why low-income people are suffering while wealthy investors are getting wealthier, and how we can help reduce these harmful circumstances. In addition, TAWI teams briefly presented action items at the end of the meeting.
As for another way to help achieve State of Wisconsin goals for reducing Earth-warming emissions, check the (upcoming) Events section on this TAWI website to register for the May 6 Wisconsin Lobby Day, held at the Capitol and Monona Terrace in Madison. The event sponsors, Wisconsin Conservation Voters, offer free buses for folks living at some distance from the Capitol.
