We New Yorkers have had enough of being told what CANT be done to rapidly advance our transition to renewable energy generation.

We New Yorkers are annoyed by misinformation and false excuses of “affordability” and “reliability”.

We New Yorkers cannot accept the delays and incrementalism in funding and implementing our landmark NYS Climate Law.

What is needed at this time of crisis is dynamic leadership showing us what CAN be done – and must be done – if there is the political will to do it.

People Over Plastic – Rally & Advocacy Day ~ Albany https://thirdact.org/upstate-ny/events/people-over-plastic-rally-advocacy-day/ Sun, 27 Apr 2025 12:58:11 +0000 https://thirdact.org/upstate-ny/?post_type=events&p=1094

We are so close in passing the Packaging Reduction & Recycling Infrastructure Act but we are up against Big Plastic and fossil fuel industry lobbyists with deep pockets and we need grassroots advocates like YOU to convince legislators to pass this bill now.

The plastics industry knows there is a real chance of passing this groundbreaking bill. They have doubled their lobbyists in Albany and are spending $500,000 to kill the Packaging Reduction & Recycling Infrastructure Act. The three newest companies lobbying to defeat the bill are ExxonMobil, Loreal and SABIC, a plastics manufacturer.

Come speak directly to your legislators about why you want them to end the scourge of plastic packaging and hold polluters accountable for their waste.

Gather at the Legislative Office Building at 10:00 to hear from organizers and legislative champions and meet lobby team leaders and fellow team members.

Rally at 12:00 noon outside at West Capital Park with a brass band. If you live in the Capital Region and cannot make it for the whole day, then join us just for the rally at lunchtime.

After the rally will be meeting with state senators and assemblymembers to call on them to support this legislation and vote “Yes!” this session. You will be part of a group with an experienced team leader… you will get talking points, memos, and information in advance.
